Another great find in Chinatown! At Chuan Hua, also known as “The 3 for 100 Shop,” we came across fabric labeled “More Fat 8ths and Friends by Marsha McCloskey for In the Beginning.” It was a bit more than the other fabric, priced at 45 baht per meter, with a 2 meter minimum purchase. It will be great for quilting because you get a variety of 4 prints running lengthwise along the fabric. You can easily cut it up into fat eighths. Cut at 18″ and the strip includes four fat eighths.

Today I went to a coffee morning and there was a talk by Masako about her volunteer work with Sop Moei Arts. Villagers near the Burmese border make woven textiles and Masako and other volunteers have been working for over 10 years getting these goods to market in Bangkok and around the world, where the fine weaving is appreciated. The cutest item she brought to the coffee morning was this purse, priced at 1400 baht. Get one at the shop in Bangkok or Chiangmai.

Our quilt group donated four quilts to Habitat For Humanity. These quilts are made from churn dash 12″ squares which all of us in quilt group made. Then I made them up into quilts.

Students from International School Bangkok took the quilts on their Week Without Walls trips to Udon Thani and Lampang. The students helped build four houses for four families, and the families at each new house received a quilt.

A quilt for a habitat family.
