Finished my miniature quilt

Posted by Jill on July 15, 2007

We have a quilt challenge over the summer. Linda gave us each an embroidered square and the challenge is to use it in a miniature quilt. Here is mine. Tiger is enjoying it. I put the embroidered square in the middle. Pattern: Wish Upon a Star

Miniature quilt

A miniature quilt can be a wall hanging, a doll quilt or a table topper. This one will go on a table. I machine quilted it.

Churn Dash

Posted by Jill on March 24, 2007

One of our group projects here in Bangkok, Thailand over the past year was to make up 12″ quilt blocks with leftover scraps, to be collected and made up into charity quilts. Linda arranged and packaged some of them into kits. As for the rest, I have 47 churn dash blocks to make up into quilts for charity. Made two already:

We have new members in the group who are enthusiastic about making quilts for charity. It’s great! We’ve got a bunch made already.

Tippecanoe and Tyler Too

Posted by Jill on March 6, 2007

Tippecanoe was a battle against the Indians in 1811. John Tyler was nominated for Vice President in 1840. Here is my latest quilt for charity, Tippecanoe and Tyler Too , a block from the Quilters Cache site. I made six blocks and framed them with an eight inch border. The large border was useful. I used it to practice machine quilting a feather motif.

Quilt group was fun today. We are planning another meeting for Friday to cut fabric strips for kits to make more charity quilts, which will go to Children of the Forest. Deb recently visited the village and she says they are doing well, trying to support themselves with mushroom growing and rice milling among other industries. They enjoyed our last donation of over 200 quilts for kids.

Spool and bobbin

I made another charity quilt for Children of the Forest. I made this one up by enlarging a pattern for a single quilt block called Spool and Bobbin.
