Hey Jill.. I read through all your blogs it’s a delight for ppl like us who are on the look out for great and right buys in Thailand specifically Bangkok.. I was reading through one of your posts and found the name of this factory called Tokai that manufactures high quality cotton poplin.. Is it possible that I can get in touch with them through an agent but I’d like someone who can offer a very wide variety as I already know someone but they don’t have as many options in terms of prints.. My main focus is on polka dots, stripes and all kinds of floral prints big and small! Thanks I hope to hear from u soon enough! Love xoxo

Factories won’t supply a variety. They do large runs of one pattern. So your best bet is Fabric House https://www.facebook.com/pages/Fabric-HouseCentral-World/350995504972980 they give a 20% discount for large orders. See the facebook page for photos by other people – Fabic House doesn’t actually have a website.
Fabric Center: 277 Sampeng Lane, tel. 02-222-2460.
Fabric House: ground floor Central City, Bang Na, Bangkok tel. 02-361-0570
Fabric House: ground floor Seacon Square, Srinakarin Rd., Bangkok tel. 02-721-8709
Fabric Fashion: 1st floor The Mall 3, Ramkamhaeng, Bangkok tel. 02-310-1020
At Sampeng you’ll find Belleboo fabric at various shops such as #258 Sampeng, and a few others such as #261 SM Fabric (not sure if it’s still there). If you walk around you’ll see shops with polka dots and prints, that will be Belleboo! http://www.belleboofabric.com/ Good luck!

I’m sorry but Khun Tiew is no longer able to accept quilting jobs. She is winding the business down. I don’t know of any other business like hers in Thailand. Sorry about that.

Dear Jill
I would love to find a quilter in Bangkok or Thailand who could help turn my son’s t-shirts into a memory quilt as he leaves school and moves to university in our home country. Do you know of anyone who could do this sort of commission?
Thanks for your help,
Susan

Hello, Jill
I am a quilter living in Chiang Mai. I get a lot of emails from fellow quilters with questions that maybe you can help me with.
The most frequent questions are:
1. Is there currently a quilting group in Bangkok that meets regularly?
2. Is there any machine quilting service for those who like to piece but don’t necessarily like to quilt?
I also know that you have been a big supporter of Khun Tiew at Our Home. Is she still running it? I haven’t been able to find anything current on the internet.
thanks for your help with this.

A few quilters are starting up a quilt group in downtown Bangkok. You can email them at BangkokQuilters@gmail.com. There is no machine quilting service. Khun Tiew is still doing hand quilting in Rayong but only has one quilter staying with her whereas there used to be about 10 quilters living there in a dorm, so she’s booked solid for quilting. She is focussing on other businesses, travel and her grandchildren.

Dear Jill, thank you for your wonderful site! I have three questions: 1. Where can I find cotton batting in BKK? 2. Is there any place I can buy wholesale bedding sheet fabric (wide)? 3. Where can I find Janome sewing machine supplies? I am trying to buy a free motion quilting foot, asked in several of the big malls/ store, but none has any and they can’t tell me where.

As far as I know, there is no cotton batting in Thailand. We always brought our own from the US, or bought it from quilt shops in Singapore.
Not really sure about bedsheets. Possibly Chuan Hua #150 Sampeng lane, the 3 for 100 shop. 3 meters for 100 baht. I only thought of it because they also sell bedsheets. The lady sitting at the desk in the back speaks English.
Here is the official Janome/Elna website. They call it Sewing Lovers Club, and they sell free motion feet. Out of the 21 shown on the page, the 1st and the 8th are free motion. There is a phone # on their about page. You can order online if someone can help you with the Thai. Or print out the page and bring it to the Janome dept at Central or wherever, so they understand http://www.sewingloversclub.com/category/6/
