• I’m looking for colored stretch cord, for jewelry. I’m wondering if they sell it in Sampeng Market?

  • I saw spools of stretch cord in green, yellow, lavendar, blue, pink and black at Loa Kwean for 85 baht per spool. 123-125-127 Rajchawong Road, Sampeng, Bangkok 10100.
  • Wattanaporn Pu Shop at 256 Sampeng Lane has a good selection of stretch cord. One pack is 120 baht and is 100 meters. They are open from 8:30 to 5:30 daily, Sundays 8:30 – 2:30.

• Wondering if China World shops accept credit cards? Do they do vat refunds? Please advise. Thanks.

  • I asked at one shop and they said they accept credit cards on purchases over 2000 baht. But many shops do not accept credit cards. No VAT refunds.

• Could you explain where the Lycra shop is and name of shop please. I don’t know the Temple. Thank you.

  • Korea Shop sells Lycra stretch knit fabric at 100 baht per meter plain, and 130 baht per meter for prints. It’s located in the entrance driveway to Chakrawat temple, and is open from 8:00 to 6:00 daily. MOVED NO LONGER HERE

  • Any day of the week is good to go. Some shops may be closed on Sunday. Shops are closed for Chinese New Years,

• Hello! I love this resource! Can you tell me if you’ve seen the name brand Moda in Sampeng? Also where can I find flannel?

  • Moda fabric can be found mixed in with other brands at Kimono Shop on the corner of Yaowarat and Maha Chai Roads, diagonally across the street from Starbucks. There is a lady on the corner of Sampeng Lane and Chakrawat Road selling flannel. Not in a shop, but just at a counter on the side of the road.

They also sell net, felt, burlap (sale 95 baht per meter), cloth bags, lace, bells, glitter, velcro in different colors, batting, lining fabric, TC (Tetron Cotton), and faux fur fleece (300 baht per meter).

  • The are located close to each other. You can walk around all these places together and spend a full day shopping there.

They have clasps, beads, ribbon clamps, and silver and gold beads. Another place for jewelry crafters to find great supplies is Ribbon Center at #337 Sampeng Lane. They have hats, hair accessories, costume jewelry, and display cases and stands. These places are near the intersection of Ratchawong and Yaowarat Roads, in walking distance of the Grand China Princess Hotel.

Upstairs at Pahurat: denim, velour, felt and more

Pahurat is the Indian fabric market near Sampeng Lane in Bangkok. You have to find the escalator and that’s how you know it’s the upstairs Pahurat market. The shops sell denim, corduroy, velour, canvas, cotton, and gauze. Once in a while we find novelty cottons or other great fabric for quilting. Adela recommends exploring the ground floor of Pahurat for fashionable dresses. They have some very nice evening dresses in shops on the ground floor of Pahurat.

Upstairs at Pahurat: Lan Heng Co. sells felt by the meter. Minimum is 1 meter. Prices range from 60 to 80 baht per meter. Hours 9:30 am to 5:00 pm, closed Sunday.

This is the entrance to Pahurat. This is where the escalator is. It is right across the street from the big red Chinaworld mall.

Bus 53 stops at Pahurat.

This is right next to the escalator, leading into the market on the ground floor.

Pornsawad Shop, #60-62 Sampeng Lane, near Siam Central Bank at the intersection of Sampeng Lane and Trok Hua Met street, has felt by the meter in 26 different colors. The price is 100 baht per meter. It is 36 inches wide. They also stock lace, lining, lightweight cotton fabric in solid colors, net, burlap, tassels and velcro in many colors.
